Our client have an urgent need for an application packaging consultant for a deployment project
They are a software company that produces analytical software and business applications that manage and analyse data and cost managment tools, based around Excel VBA application and .NET
the application packaging consultant should be able to come up with a good solution, recommending tools and an approach as appropriate.
The application being packaged is based on a successful predecessor Excel application, It is based on client-server architecture:
· Server – SQLServer database and third-party licensing tool
· Client – Excel application and a .Net data management application
It is a small application, but will be preceded by a new release shortly a .Net rewrite of the Excel based application, which will have additional applications. Other application integration is being planned so although simple now, the installer design must be able to accommodate future requirements. the clients intention is to take the ‘model’ developed by the successful candidate and extend this in-house, if needed. In any event the successful candidate must have good communication skills and be able to well document your work.
Of particular interest is the central rollout of applications, updates and patch fixes. The successful candidate must have knowledge of this and of database, COM and DLL installations. They require knowledge of application packaging installer software such as InstallShield, Wyse install or MSI Windows Installer and the ability to write .MSI scripts for the application packaging to be deployed.
They have estimated this as an initial 1 month contract but with planned development and upgrades to the system there is scope for this to be a on going need for technical assistance. |
