Last updated: 06/01/2009 IT Systems Architect Utilities Bristol Back Our client is a leading provider of consultancy to the UK’s water companies on all aspects of telemetry systems. You will need to advise on aspects of the IT systems needed to deliver the next generation of telemetry systems. You will be involved with projects to provide new telemetry systems to water companies, discuss technical feasibility and advise project managers on the technical risks associated with their projects. Qualifications required Degree qualified in relevant engineering or science subject. Experience required:- You will have demonstrable (approx 5-10 years) experience working as an IT professional for a system integrator in the utilities business. Strong technical skills in system architecture and design specification, excellent interpersonal skills as the role frequently involves agreeing the achievable in a complex relationship between their clients and the system supplier. An understanding of telemetry and the water industryis required. Some project management experience and Database design skills is desirable Knowledge of a design methodology such as Unified Modelling Language (UML). Ability to write high level design specifications and interface specifications. Experience of software development in a language such as Java, C# or C++ on either UNIX/LINUX or Windows environments.
